Three sisters stabbed to death in Gaza 'honor killing'

Three sisters were found stabbed to death in the Gaza Strip on Sunday, raising suspicion they were killed by relatives because of suspected immoral behavior, a human rights organization said.
The three sisters, 16-year-old Nahed Hija and her sisters, 19-year-old Suha and 22-year-old Lina, were found dead from multiple stab wounds, buried in a shallow grave in the central Gaza Strip early Sunday morning, said Hamdi Shakkour of the Palestinian Center for Human Rights.
Shakkour said they suspected the women were victims of "honor crimes," in which women are murdered by male relatives because of suspected intimate relations - not necessarily sex - outside of marriage.
The Hamas force that polices the Gaza Strip said in a statement it was investigating the deaths.
Honor killings are practiced throughout the Arab world. At least 12 women were killed for honor crimes in the West Bank and Gaza Strip last year, but this is the first time three sisters were murdered together.
In February, three unrelated woman were killed within a 24-hour period in the Gaza Strip.
At the time, there were concerns that vigilante moral groups were behind the killings.
The Palestinian judiciary does not take "honor crimes" seriously, Shakkour said. Perpetrators of "honor crimes" are often given light sentences of a few years, while others convicted of murder under other circumstances are sentenced to death. Not taken seriously!!??? In the West, in a Civiilized society and all non-Islamic societies, life is taken seriously and especially murder!!

Three family members of honour killing victim Banaz Mahmod have been jailed for life at the Old Bailey today.
Banaz Mahmod feared for her life
The 20-year-old's father, Mahmod Mahmod, 54, was among the three men sentenced, and will have to serve a minimum term of 20 years.
His brother Ari, 51, will serve a minimum of 23 years.
A third killer Mohamad Hama, 30, was told he would spend at least 17 years in prison.
Banaz Mahmod was strangled because her family disapproved of her relationship with her boyfriend.
Hama and three other men who have left the country killed her during two hours of torture at her home.
She was raped and subjected to degrading sex acts before succumbing to an agonising death.
The murder was ordered by her Iraqi Kurd father and uncle after her affair with fellow Kurd Rahmat Sulemani, 29, was discovered.
The Common Serjeant of London, Judge Brian Barker, said: "This was a barbaric and callous crime.
"You are hard and unswerving men to whom apparently the respect from the community is more important that your own flesh and blood."
He said Ari was the force behind the killing but Mahmod also bore responsibility.
Prosecutor Victor Temple QC told the court Hama confessed to a friend that Miss Mahmod's ordeal lasted two hours.
She was garrotted for five minutes but took half an hour to die as Hama stamped on her neck to "let her soul out".
Miss Mahmod realised her life was in danger and even wrote a letter naming those she thought might kill her.
She asked police for help four times but was not taken seriously.
In footage recorded by Mr Sulemani following an earlier attempt on her life by her father in December 2005, she said she was "really scared".
The film was played in court and helped convict her killers from beyond the grave.
She was urged to stay at a safe house by police but instead told officers she believed she would be all right at home because her mother was there.
Miss Mahmod disappeared the following January and her decomposed body was discovered in Handsworth, Birmingham, three months later.
Five police officers face the threat of disciplinary action as a result of the trial.
Last month Mahmod and Ari, of Mitcham, south London, were found guilty of murder after the jury were told they considered she had shamed the family honour by falling in love with the wrong man.
Hama, 30, of West Norwood, south London, pleaded guilty to murder before the trial.
Mr Sulemani said he had tried to commit suicide on more than one occasion.
He said: ""Banaz and I were in love. She was the sweetest person in the world. She was my future."
Having escaped an attempt to kidnap and kill him, he said he now led a lonely life, not trusting anyone enough to make friends and constantly looking over his shoulder.
Honor killing, that's what the Muslims call it. In the year 2007, with cell phones, a Space Station, prepared frozen food in a bag, cars that can park themselves.....and the people of the religion of Islam still rationalize with 12th Century mentality. It's no doubt that this lovely young woman Banaz saw way beyond the lies of Islam and was seeking a better life for herself. I say this with sincerity, 'May God, rest her soul'.

What the Dem Candidates really mean

Here we go sports fans, it's late and I need to get some sleep so I can make money for Uncle Sugar to take away and throw it away to Iraq, and multiple other conntries that do not deserve our tax dollars in the shallow form of US Aid. That's another blog post. But what I saw tonight from a Bird's Eye View, was the leading 'contenders' in the Democratic (New World Socialist) Party. Der Konnijin des Reich Hillary Clinton and Barak Obama....were talking it up to Hispanic voters today. Let's start with this one: The candidates spoke before roughly 2,000 Hispanic educators, activists and community and business leaders at the annual conference of the nation's largest Hispanic civil rights organization, the National Council of La Raza, in Miami Beach. National Council of La Raza.....'The Race', meaning mainly Mexican, but definitely non-White, talk about a bunch of hypocrites. Espouse about racism against them yet have a National Party that is race based and inclusive only to 'The Race' of non-whites. As they competed Sunday to woo Hispanic voters, Hillary Clinton touted her personal connection to the community, while Barack Obama emphasized the intertwined struggles of black and Hispanic Americans Hillary has a connection? A connection??? Yeah, she wants your votes and that's her only truely real connection. Obama said he emphasized the intertwined struggles of Black and Hispanic Americans. Translated means: death to Whitey. All White people are bad, non-whites, I understand you, vote for me. Today was the day that excluded the Caucasion American, the bane of everyone's problems, destroyer of everything non-White, that's what La Raza's day today was all about.

Islam's incompatibilty with the West

People on the ‘left’ of politics, liberals who believe the World is one big happy place except for the greedy ‘capitalist’, and most people that follow Islam, will proclaim me to be another bigot. Another ‘Islamophobe’, a ‘Nazi’- that is often used way way out of context of what the Nazi Party politically represented. Nationalized socialism.....sounds familiar, not 'corporate empires of capitalist'.
But I was thinking the other day after hearing of a few more stories of radical Islam in Pakistan, the Red Mosque terrorist assault, mass suicide bombings in Northern Iraq of innocent people. The continued coverage of ‘Muslims’ in the U.K. and their two car bombs and air port attacks….ATTACKS, offensive in nature and design, with no thought towards innocent non-combatants.
I was thinking about things I have written which by now, no doubt, have me somewhere on an Islam-fascist target list for ‘insulting Islam’. I was thinking about those things I’ve written and one of the most controversial ideas I’ve put forth, that Islam is incompatible with ‘The West’. In 2007, many will think I’m crazy. Western civilization is an open arms society which embraces all walks of life equally. For the most part, that is true. But thankfully, there are limits, there are laws. Child molesters and the sex with children crowd are seen as a threat to society and rightfully treated as such. Murder is still a crime, while the consequences vary from Nation to Nation, and here State to State, thankfully, one just can not walk up and kill another human being without consequence. In the West. In Europe and North and South America and a few of the truly civilized countries in the Far East.
But Islam. Nope, it’s not compatible with the West, no matter how much one tries to reconcile the thought of freedom of religion, with the concept of our Constitution of the United States towards religion. History is our teacher here. It is said that if the lessons of history are forgotten, then the mistakes shall be repeated again in the future.
Let’s take the example of….the America’s. Indigenous tribes of people populated the continents and islands of the Western Hemisphere. They lived relatively peacefully among themselves except for the occasional empires that rose and fell in Mexico and South America. Wars over territory and resources to live. Mostly, they just lived by themselves going about their day to day lives. Then one day, around 1492, an event happened. People from an entirely different culture came upon their shores. These people had different beliefs, customs, and way of living and outlook upon life so vastly different than the Indigenous people. Many of these new people fell under one religious belief called Christianity. This religious belief was almost zealous in practice and it attributed greatly to the day to day decision makings of their leaders and followers. So much so that the new visitors, felt and believed that the Indigenous people’s religions and ways of life were barbaric, and just plain, not right and had to be changed. The following are a few examples of what I just wrote about:
Columbus's purpose from the beginning was not mere exploration or even trade, but conquest and exploitation, for which he used religion as a rationale. Typically, after discovering an island and encountering a tribe of Indians new to them, the Spaniards would read aloud (in Spanish) what came to be called the Requirement. Here is one version:
I implore you to recognize the Church as a lady and in the name of the Pope take the King as lord of this land and obey his mandates. If you do not do it, I tell you that with the help of God I will enter powerfully against you all. I will make war everywhere and every way that I can. I will subject you to the yoke and obedience to the Church and to his majesty. I will take your women and children and make them slaves. ...The deaths and injuries that you will receive from here on will be your own fault and not that of his majesty nor of the gentlemen that accompany me.
What happened, we all know is ‘history’. More and more of the people from the East came across the oceans and began transforming the land and the people who lived there to suit their own version of life. It continued until every piece of land was eventually declared, an ‘independent ‘Country’ or property of. Now, let’s speed up to the early 2000’s and read the words of the latest group of people who live and govern their lives by a religion.

brandishing their party's green flag. Young Muslim men in battle gear
marched and beat drums as a man on loudspeaker repeatedly exclaimed in
Arabic, "Allah is great."
Hundreds of activists strutted screaming Islamist epithets, including
"Islam is the only truth" and "Islam shall rule all."
Islamic Movement leaders demanded Nazareth officials deed the property
over to local Muslim authorities.
Muslims hold regular prayer services at the site neighboring the
Annunciation church throughout the week, usually drawing large numbers of
worshippers on Fridays.
Yesterday's afternoon service, attended by WND, was preceded by a sermon
delivered by a prominent local sheik, who shouted into a loudspeaker,
"Islam will dominate the world."

calls for the death by crucifixion, or worse, of the real terrorists:

According to Sheik Omar, Muslims in the West have very serious
responsibilities in preparing the people to embrace Islam or to accept the
Islamic way of life.
Al-Muhajiroun calls for Muslims in the West to "be the front line of the
coming Khilafah … to become strong and united in order to become the fifth
column, which is able to put pressure on the enemies of Islam and to be
able to support the Muslim Ummah worldwide." The organization believes
that "bonding the Muslim community in the West with the Muslims globally"
is the secret to setting off a "worldwide Islamic revolution."
Forty percent of Muslims between aged 16 to 24 said they would prefer to
live under sharia law in the UK, compared to only 17 percent of those over
55. Thirty-six percent of the younger group said a Muslim who converted to
another religion should be "punished by death," while only 19 percent of
the older group agreed.
Munira Mirza, the leading author of the report, said the results suggested
UK government policy was to blame for sharpening divisions between Muslims
and non-Muslims and suggested the government should engage Muslims as
citizens, not through their religious identity.
She said: "The emergence of a strong Muslim identity in Britain is, in
part, a result of multicultural policies implemented since the 1980s which
have emphasized difference at the expense of shared national identity and
divided people along ethnic, religious and cultural lines.
"There is clearly a conflict within British Islam between a moderate
majority that accepts the norms of Western democracy and a growing
minority that does not," she added.
A purported Taliban spokesman said the hard-line militia killed two German
hostages on Saturday because Germany didn't announce a troop withdrawal from
Afghanistan.
The Afghan government, however, said one of the Germans died of a heart attack
and that the second was still alive.
South Korea's government, meanwhile, attempted to win the release of at least 18
Korean Christians, including 15 women, kidnapped in the same region on Thursday.

Iran's hard-line interior minister is encouraging temporary marriages as a way
to avoid extramarital sex, a stance many in this conservative country fear would
instead encourage prostitution.
A temporary marriage, or "sigheh," refers to a Shiite Muslim tradition under
which a man and a woman sign a contract that allows them to be "married" for any
length of time, even a few hours. "Temporary marriage is God's rule. We must aggressively encourage that,"
state-run television quoted Interior Minister Mostafa Pourmohammadi as saying.
Half of Iran's population of 70 million is under 30. Taxi driver Reza Sarabi,
23, expressed the frustration of many young Iranian men who can't afford to buy
a house and get married.
"I have no money to set up a matrimonial life. I don't want prostitutes. What
should I do with my sexual needs?" he said.
The "sigheh" is banned in Sunni Islam, but similar practices can be found in
Sunni countries. One such practice is the "urfi" marriage, an unofficial
arrangement that is often kept secret. Although an urfi marriage involves
signing a document in front of witnesses, the marriage can be broken by
destroying the paper.
DETROIT — A Muslim leader from Ohio who was convicted of lying about his
involvement with a group the U.S. government designated a terrorist
organization has been deported to his native Palestinian territories,
immigration authorities said Friday.
Fawaz Damra, 46, was convicted in June 2004 of concealing his ties to
Palestinian Islamic Jihad when he applied for U.S. citizenship in 1994.

Thomas Jefferson faced a lingering foreign crisis
early in his administration. For more than twenty
years, he had been urging military action against
Arab corsairs on the Barbary coast. These were
fast, cheap warships that preyed upon merchant
shipping along the northern shore of Africa.
Various Arab rulers there would regularly declare
war against European countries and then begin
seizing their ships and men. The captured crews
would be held for ransom or sold in the market as
slaves. “Christians are cheap today!” was the
auctioneer’s cry.
This practice had been going on for centuries. As
many as a million and a quarter Europeans had been
enslaved by Muslims operating out of North Africa.
When he served as America’s minister to France in
the mid-1780s, Jefferson had once confronted an
Arab diplomat, demanding to know by what right his
country attacked Americans in the Mediterranean:
The Ambassador answered us that it was founded on
the Laws of the Prophet, that it was written in
their Koran, that all nations who should not have
answered their authority were sinners, that it was
their right and duty to make war upon them
wherever they could be found, and to make slaves
of all they could take as prisoners.
Okay dear reader, I picked at a few items that I saved over the years that concerned Islam. The more Islam continues to grow inside the United States and the ‘West’, the more the norms of this Country and the others, will be ‘forced’ to change. First it will be through words, then it will be through violent action. Let’s trudge back to history again for a lesson and see what happened to a people who opened their arms and land to a people who lived under a strict religious code.
On October 12, 1492, Columbus and his crew arrived at an an island in the Bahamas inhabited by the Arawak Indians. When Columbus and his sailors came ashore, the Arawaks ran to greet them bringing food and gifts. Columbus wrote the following in his log...
They...brought us parrots and balls of cotton and spears and many other things, which they exchanged for the glass beads and hawks' bells. They willingly traded everything they owned...They do not bear arms, and do not know them, for I showed them a sword, they took it by the edge and cut themselves out of ignorance...They would make fine servants...With fifty men we could subjugate them all and make them do whatever we want.
As soon as I arrived in the Indies, on the first Island which I found, I took some of the natives by force in order that they might learn and might give me information of whatever there is in these parts.
One can hopefully clearly see that the situation is again happening today, in 2007, where a people of faith (Islam) are bringing their beliefs and way of life into a ‘foreign’ country and forcing change to the established ways of life of the people who currently have built their homes and lives there. This has brought minor conflict and is going to bring major conflict, death, and suffering unless boldness by the current people of the majorities fail to unite and confront this lesson of history. Islam will change our entire way of life, the way we work, the sports we enjoy, the food we eat, the clothes we wear, almost every aspect our way of life will be changed, such as it had happened to the Indigenous people before us.
Another little historical chart I found interesting that demonstrates what happens when a changing force is not confronted. This was a failure among the ‘American Indians’, who failed to unite together from sea to sea and face the threat of expansion as a united force. Instead, many with more liberal ideas and thoughts, bargained their way into peace with the new settlers, betrayed their own people’s and neighbors by allying themselves with the ‘new settlers’. This too happened to much of Asia and the Middle East during the rise of the Mongol Empire. The Mongols were able to take apart other empires piecemeal, and then build their own Empire over the others. If all of those others especially the two Chinese empires would have joined forces, history may have been changed in their benefit.

The Council on American-Islamic Relations said in its daily e-mail dispatch today an audio clip of the conversation ·the date is not indicated ·"is circulating on anti-Muslim Internet hate sites."
A copy of the clip was posted on YouTube.com Oct. 8, 2006.
The caller began: "Sir, I'm calling because of some statements you've been making in the past week about the religion of Islam and ·"
Boortz interrupted: It's a cult, it's not even a religion. ·"

After a long list of crimes perpetrated all over the world in the name of Islam, the talk host told the caller, "You don't have a word of condemnation in you until the non-Islamic world rises up and starts to make it clear that we are fed up with your damned religion. We've had it up to here.
"And somebody, like I said yesterday, somebody needs to grab the Muslim world by the shirt collar, backhand it a good one, knock it into the damn corner and say straighten up or we're gonna eradicate you beetles from the face of the Earth. ·"
CAIR asked its constituents not to contact Boortz, because he "can and will use any comments to further defame Islam and Muslim."
"This clip was offered only to demonstrate the growing level of Islamophobic rhetoric in our society," the group said.
CAIR, which brands itself as a mainstream promoter of civil rights, has been named with two other prominent U.S. Islamic groups as an "unindicted co-conspirator" in a plot to fund the terrorist group Hamas. Jury selection is underway for the trial in Dallas.
CAIR is a spinoff of the defunct Islamic Association for Palestine, launched by Hamas leader Mousa Abu Marzook and former university professor Sami al-Arian, who pleaded guilty last year to conspiracy to provide services to Palestinian Islamic Jihad. Several CAIR staffers have been convicted on terrorism-related charges, and CAIR founder Omar Ahmad allegedly told a group of Muslims they are in America not to assimilate but to help assert Islam's rule over the country.

Two Teenage Inmates Choke Driver, Escape During Transport To Detention Facility

Two teenage inmates in Kentucky escaped from a Department of Juvenile Justice vehicle on Tuesday by choking the youth worker who was transporting them and throwing her out of the car, police said.
Amber Tucker, 17, and Brandi Murrah, 16, are still at large after police found the vehicle in Harrodsburg, Ky.
John Hodgkin, public information officer for the Department of Juvenile Justice, said one of the girls feigned sickness, telling the driver that she was going to throw up. The driver slid open the plastic divider to allow more air conditioning to reach the girl when the other girl reached over and began to strangle the driver with her handcuffs, Hodgkin said.
Both girls were secured with handcuffs and belly-chains, which are meant to restrain the hands to the body, he said.
While choking the youth worker, one of the suspects was able to wiggle her way into the front seat where she continued to choke the woman, who is in her late 40s or early 50s, and threw the car keys to the other girl so she could get free, police said.
The two girls then threw the driver out on the road and drove away in the vehicle.
The car was found at 2:41 a.m. yesterday morning with no one in it, police said. The vehicle was a government-issued Ford Crown Victoria and was found by an officer on routine patrol.
The female youth transporter was not seriously injured and was released from the hospital after receiving treatment for bruises on her neck.
Hodgkin said the girls originally were in custody for misdemeanor charges that would not be thought to be violent.
"They were not considered dangerous," he said. "There was no reason to believe that they would be a threat to the driver."
Hodgkin also said that there is no reason to believe the girls are armed. The transporter was not armed and was not trained in weaponry, unlike the adult system of justice.
The girls were being transported from Warren County to the Morehead Youth Development Center.
If the girls are caught, they will return to a detention center and will face new, more serious charges, Hodgkin said.
Hodgkin said that state police believe the girls may be heading towards Russellville, Kentucky, a town near where one of the girls lives.

Teen California Girls Charged With Animal Cruelty as Burned Cat Clings to Life

COTATI, Calif. —
A 3-month-old cat is clinging to life at a Sonoma County animal hospital after having been set on fire by two teenage girls who now face charges of animal cruelty.
The kitten, named Adam by hospital staff, has undergone two surgeries and had its tail and the tips of its ears amputated. The skin on its back was burned off in the attack, leaving nothing but raw tissue.
"The degree of injury is greater than our normal level of trauma that we care for," said Katheryn Hinkle, the head veterinarian and owner of the Animal Hospital of Cotati. "He's our most critical patient, and we're watching him constantly."
The cat, one of several feral felines trapped for spaying and neutering, was in a cage outside an apartment in Santa Rosa when two 15-year-old girls allegedly poured flammable liquid on the animal and set it on fire last month.
An 11-year-old boy and his friend saw the smoke and heard the cat, then eight weeks old, shrieking while the girls laughed. The girls, whose names have not been released, were charged with cruelty to animals in Sonoma County Juvenile Court last week.
With so much exposed skin, the cat is vulnerable to infection, Hinkle said. It cannot leave its cage and must be handled only with gloves. It will need several more surgeries to cover the wound on its back with skin.
The kitten was among six wild litter mates and a male cat captured by a trapper on a farm. The plan was to have the cats spayed and neutered and then released back to the farm. The cages with the kittens were stolen and only Adam has been found.
According to Hinkle, the bill to keep the kitten alive could run between $20,000 and $30,000 even though the vet performing its surgeries has donated her services. The community's concern for the cat has prompted anger in some Sonoma County residents, who complain that the slaying of a 16-year-old boy in the same neighborhood last year did not receive as much attention.

Then there’s the story of the mom in Denver, Colorado, who worked as an ‘escort’ and disappeared. What caught my attention was the following: Since her divorce in 2006, Birgfeld made and sold baby slings, sold kitchenware, worked as a mystery shopper, gave dance lessons to children and speculated in local real estate.
Sounds like a typical American in today’s ‘roaring’ economy of a 14,000 Dow Market. But I guess she, and 99% of the rest of America are not on that gravy train. Is it from lack of trying, looks like she did try to earn an honest living. I don’t see anything about her going on welfare. There is a disparity in this country. I don’t advocate taking from those who are the ‘have’s’, but the ‘have’s have better wake up and quit hording their wealth and use it to better their neighbors and fellow countrymen before history repeats itself through a very ugly means.
I seen a story about an Army officer being relieved of duty because a couple of soldiers in his battalion are charged with crimes against Iraqis. What a crock. If that C.O. is to be held accountable, then is goes all the way up the chain to THE TOP at 1600 Penn Ave. Our politicians are doing more to destroy our military than our enemy is, and the media of the United States is just as guilty in assisting both the enemy and the politicians.

Senate All-nighter

Since I have a job, to pay my bills, and for my local, State, and Federal government to misspend my tax dollars, I miss most of what's happening. This you dear reader, should know already, but a few in the back of the auditorium, don't know about listening to someone with a Birds Eye View. Okay, reading. Everyone is dang picky tonight. But, I have just a simple observation from a simple man. We is the Senate pulling an 'all-nighter'?? It's a Democrat(ic) run Senate so dem dam Dems are pushing this thing. Did Ted get a few kegger's lined up for tonight on a discount or raffle ticket?? Is that why this thing is happening?? More seriously though, why does the Senate, unlike you, me, and 98% of the rest of working America, have to pull an all nighter to get their job done?? What in heck did they do ---- all day?! If our Imperial Senate has to deal with their problems of 'talking' to each other....then why can't they do it during normal working hours like the rest of us??!! How about this Senators.....get up around 5am, like we do, run through a morning routine like we do, get to work by 7am like we do, and perform a days work....like we do?? In an eight hour period like we do? But nope, we have to deal with our Le Grande Imperial Senate sapping the news with stories of having to put in an all-nighter. Well have fun, cause I'm, like most of the rest of America's working souls, is going to bed soon, so I can get up at 5, and repeat my 'Office Space' life all over again. I'm willing to bet, most Americans don't give a rats arse that the Senate is pulling this 'all-nighter' since we know that Congress has screwed the pooch big time on just about everything that has to do with taking care of America!!!! Good night.

Iran to intensify dress crackdown Iran will intensify a crackdown on women flouting Islamic dress laws, a senior policeman has told local media.
Tehran police chief Ahmad Reza Radan said from 23 July twice as many police will tackle "immoral behaviour".
Hundreds of women have already been arrested and some beaten by police since the drive began in April, human rights groups say.
Iranian women are obliged to cover their hair and wear loose-fitting clothes to disguise their figures.
However, some women - especially in wealthier urban areas - wear tighter or more revealing clothes.
Court warning
Ahmad Reza Radan told Iran's Farhang-e Ashti newspaper that police would be enforcing the crackdown with renewed vigour in Mordad - the Iranian month starting on 23 July.
"First, those who breach the dress code will be warned by the police.
"But if they continue their ignorance... they will be sent to courts," Mr Radan said.
He also added that men's hairstyles must be in accordance with Islamic religious values. Wait until Sharia law is passed in California, the religious police will be putting in a lot of over time. Think the LA Cops were bad about 'beatings'....you haven't seen NOTHING yet until muslim police start beating you down for what you wear, how you look, what you think, what you say....all in the name of......Islam.

Lt. Col. Jeffrey Chessani, a Marine officer brought to trial for allegedy failing to investigate alleged war crimes in Iraq, has been recommended by a hearing officer to be court-martialed, according to a law firm representing him.
Chessani was brought up on military charges after Time magazine accused Marines of "massacring" civilians in the firefight in Haditha, Anbar Province, Iraq. Later, Rep. John Murtha, D-Pa., publicly accused Marine officers of a "cover-up." TIME MAGAZINE is the source of these allegations, so guess what magazine I, as an American consumer is not going to purchase, endorse, or even site as a reliable reference in a story!!! Rep. Murtha........bloated bureaucrat in more ways than one....and as a 'former' Marine myself, Murtha....you make me sick, and you dishonor the Marine Corps by even identifying yourself as a Marine. Murtha, you know nothing of duty, honor, Country and Corps. Like many 'career' politicians, i.e. Gore and Kerry, the military was nothing more than a check in the block for a resume'. Not a passion, not a calling, not a committment, just a check in the block. Time Magazine.....who is more valuable, your magazine or the reporter that filed this out and out lie against LtCol. Chessani??? The Bush White House and Republican Party had better step up to the plate ASAP on this issue or just kiss '08, '10, and '12 goodbye. Once this story starts making more and more of the talk radio circuit, stand by for the ranks and donations and votes to dissappear from the Republican rolls.

Iraq, Humvees, both useless

The story of three U.S. Navy SEAL's being killed this past week in Iraq after an IED was detonated underneath their HMMWV, really tore into me and my growing frustration and resolve that our troops need to get out now. In 1979, AM General began preliminary design work on the M998 Series High Mobility Multi-Purpose Wheeled Vehicle (HMMWV, pronounced Humvee®); a 1.25-ton truck intended to replace the M151 and other light tactical vehicles. The U.S. Army awarded AM General a prototype contract in 1981 and the development and operational testing was conducted over a five-month period in 1982. In March 1983, AM General won an initial $1.2 billion contract to produce 55,000 Humvees to be delivered in five basic models and 15 different configurations over a five-year period. The Army subsequently increased their order with over 15,000 additional vehicles, raising the total contract order to 70,000 Humvees valued at $1.6 billion.
The Humvee offers exceptional speed, mobility and agility and is built upon a multi-purpose platform, which will accommodate a broad range of configurations. Humvees feature full-time four-wheel drive, independent suspension, steep approach and departure angles, 60 percent gradeability and 16 inches of ground clearance. Humvees are currently in use by the U.S. Army, Marine Corps, Air Force and Navy at locations throughout the United States and overseas. Was there any mention that the HMMWV was being designed as a heavy duty recon, patrol, assault type vehicle?? That's what they are used for on a daily basis. Even with the 'up' armored versions, these 'jeeps', that's what the M151 was/is, the basis jeep, and these HMMWV's are the successors. Great for tooling around the base, great for light off roading, and great for some rich guys wife to go shopping in. But as a combat vehicle....they SUCK! Do you know how long it takes for a guy to finally put on the Trident and officially become a Navy SEAL?? Years. Not a year and a few months....years. And once that person has gone through all that training for all of those years, why were they being used in such a non-SEAL role that would put them in harm's way in a manner unbefitting the training and mission of Navy SEAL's??? Same goes for any SPECOPs personnel that are actually the 'shooters'. We are wasting our very best fighters, not we, our Administration and the Pentagon Brass that fails to make a stand against this hopeless ideal that Iraqi's will come together as the Germans, Italians, and Japanese did after the 'war' ended. A headline hot off the internet express: REBUILDING IN THE GULFViolent weekend in Iraq kills over 220 'The people have no choice but to take up their own defense' --Associated Press Then the story begins with these very telling words:
BAGHDAD (AP) - Prominent Shiite and Sunni politicians called on Iraqi civilians to take up arms to defend themselves after a weekend of violence that claimed more than 220 lives, including 60 who died Sunday in a surge of bombings and shootings around Baghdad.
The calls reflect growing frustration with the inability of Iraqi security forces to prevent extremist attacks. The division between Shiite's and Sunni's is at the point now where their own politicians are calling for the populace to take up arms to defends themselves from their religious rivals. It does not matter one iota that we call them Iraqi's, because they definitely do not see themselves as a collective group of people under that banner and name. Time is now for the U.S. Military forces to be moved into their own safe zones and bases and let the inevitable just happen. It is at the point now, the US is wasting the lives of our service personnel. The objective is to not let those deaths go in vain. Move our forces north into Kurdish Iraq and South west outside of the Shiite dominated area and build two big bases. The blood and lives of our service personnel have given us that right. To HMMWV's......it's not the military-industrial complex we should worry about, it's the politicial-industrial complex that awards contracts to lowest bidders for crap for our military. In August 1989, the U.S. Army awarded AM General a new multiyear contract for continued production of more then 33,000 Humvees. First deliveries under this new contract began in January 1990. Total value of this second multiyear contract was approximately $1 billion. Options raised the number of vehicles produced to nearly 50,000. The Military is 'run' at the top by civilians, remember that. The South African Defense Force's back in the 80's, 90's rode in vehicles built to withstand mine blast since they were often fighting guerilla-militia types. Are we too proud not to contract with those builders and make something that will actually protect our troops???!!!! And if indeed Iran is supplying arms, ammunition, and men to fight the U.S. in Iraq.....then let the Iranians feel the pain at home too.

Week in Review

I've been busy this week trying to be a productive member of America's workforce and head of household...though my wife may differ on that opinion. Nothing real earth shattering has caused me to jump onto my PC and blast out a blog note. Today is a Bird's Eye View observation of a few items that crossed the wires, TV, and radio....and in front of my car. Start at the top....Islam. Here, more practionaire's of the so-called 'religion of peace and tolerance' attempted to commit wholesale murder upon innocent civilians. People of a country that graciously allowed these 'foreigners' to come in and make a better living for themselves and their families. How were they rewarded with their generosity...two failed car bombs and a halfassed fire bombing of a public airport. All in the name of ....... Islam. I seen a short report that the majority of muslims in the U.K. signed a petition decrying the acts of those islamo-fascist terrorist. Didn't see any major people marching close down Piccidilly Circus streets protest against radical islam...just a piece of paper. Deeds...not words are what matters with Islam. Deeds, not words...are what will be the ulitmate judge of Islam and the rest of the World. U.S. Politics....the usual we know better than you people do week. Nothing really remarkable actually, Hillary is kissing up to the people of Iowa, the Democrat(ic)s leadership has gone underground after the defeat BY THE PEOPLE of the UnFairness Doctrine and Shamesty Bill. President Bush is way down in polls unless you're a Dem pollster making headlines trying to say almost half of America wants him impeached. Now there was a story....
WASHINGTON — The White House on Thursday pushed back against congressional investigations of administration activities, saying lawmakers should spend more time passing laws to solve domestic problems.
Last week, in a constitutional showdown with Congress, the Bush administration claimed executive privilege and rejected demands for White House documents about the firings of eight U.S. attorneys. The Senate Judiciary Committee has set a deadline of 10 a.m. EDT Monday for the White House to explain its basis for claiming executive privilege.
The administration has not said when or if it will respond. But presidential spokesman Scott Stanzel noted Thursday that the White House has received a flurry of inquires since Democrats took control of Congress in January, and has turned over some 200,000 pages of documents.
"They've launched over 300 investigations, had over 350 requests for documents and interviews, and they have had over 600 oversight hearings in just about 100 days," Stanzel said. "So that's about six oversight hearings a day." So all this time in the past 100 days plus of the great Democratic led Congress, they (DNC) have spent your tax dollars and time on the job as servants of the People, launching personal and political attacks against the White House. All the while, are your roads without potholes, is your community dealing with shortages and cutbacks in fire and police protection, does your tap water taste good, has your local school been remodeled this summer, has any action been taken against wild fires and floods to remedy the situations, any new factories opening up, trash been picked up and weeds cut along your roads, senior citizen centers and retirement homes have they recieved more qualified personnel to alleviate the shortages of staff and quality of care (now there's a task for you, go visit any dozen in your area....shoot me instead, don't put me in one of those places). There's a few apples to chew on America, have your politicians addressed those issues!!!!?? Or have they been too busy in their own politican worlds to deal with you, their constituients? Not much on TV these days. Most of us common sense folks have vacated the couch for the greatr outdoors. Only thing worth watching is....um...the mockingbird outside my window going after a bug. Talk about an aggressive bird. We do watch HGTV here, some news while we eat. The 'kids', they do as most kids in America, watch E, MTV, that reality stuff...yeeaah. I thought Paris Hilton had house arrest to serve as well......on the beaches of Hawaii???? Can't wait for myself to get arrested four or five times, I better get the same deal or my lawyer is going to cook up on great lawsuit against the judicial system. On my way to work on Monday, had this squirrel cross in front of my truck (there's a yarn to spin too about autos), I seen the little bugger running parallel to the road so I slowed down knowing the probability of his actions. Sure enough, he wanted to get to the other side, and he did, making his journey at a leisurely pace, and like the Geico commercial kin, he stopped in the middle of the road. I'm a big animal rights loving type guy, but I needed to get to work so I drove slowly ahead and he moved out of my way, across the road into someone's yard. His actions only made me laugh on a normal I-hate-going-to-work-Monday-feeling I had. Tuesday I had to make a trip, and during my travels I came to an intersection and the light was green, the turn arrow for oncoming had changed to red, and the moron two cars up panicked because there were two sherriff cars on the opposite corner and slammed their brakes, causing the person behind them to slam, causing me to take my highly engineered truck and swerve out of the way before I ended up in the back end of a car. The deputies seen no one hit each other, thankfully, and went their way. Who was smarter, the squirrel or the human driver?? Not sure on your opinion but I always hate to see 'road kill' while driving. It only tells me that we humans while being on the top of the food chain, are on the bottom of caring of our actions. I haven't seen any muslim squirrels killing innocent people, 60 more today in Iraq...at a food market....I have seen any communist squirrels....600,000 people a year die in Communist China due to 'pollution'. I haven't seen any Hollywood squirrels spending millions of dollars on weddings and vacations while the servant staff at these functions and hotels scrape out a megar living and Darfur is still in chaos, the Gulf Coast still needs rebuilding, and your local 'mission to the poor' receives donations from the working blue collar population to keep barely operating. Our local zoo is in danger of closing at years end due to lack of funds, so 'donations' are soon to be asked of the public. Not much happening this week. According to the news media outlets anyway.
